Privacy Notice

BrainChain is operated by P. J. Jungers, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. This notice explains what we collect when you play, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have.

Data we collect and why

• Account data — email address and sign-in identifiers (including Google sign-in), or an anonymous device-based account ID. Used to create and secure your account and to keep your chain attached to you. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
• Profile data — chain display name and chosen chain skin. Used to show you on leaderboards and in circles. Legal basis: contract.
• Gameplay data — daily answers, score, completion time, streak history, lifeline and Final Link Save usage, Jolt balance and ledger. Used to run the game, calculate streaks and rankings, and balance question difficulty. Legal basis: contract and legitimate interests in improving the game.
• Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, and error or usage logs. Used for security, fraud and cheat prevention, and diagnosing faults. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Support messages — anything you send us by email. Used to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Notifications — push/reminder preferences, if you enable them. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your device or app settings.

We do not receive or store your full card details. Payment data is collected and processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record.

Who we share data with

• Service providers / subprocessors — hosting, database and authentication infrastructure, error monitoring, and question-generation providers, acting on our instructions.
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for sale of Jolts and subscriptions, subscription management, payments, invoicing, and tax compliance.
• Professional advisers — legal and accounting, where needed.
• Authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

Retention

We keep account, profile, and gameplay data while your account is active. If you delete your account or it stays inactive for 24 months, we delete or anonymise the data, except records we must keep for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Technical logs are kept for up to 12 months.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or withdraw consent. Email support@brainchaingame.com and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level database access controls, and least-privilege access to production systems.

Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your current day's progress, sound and motion preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear this data through your browser settings, though the game may then forget your local preferences.
